SOCIAL MEDIA GUIDELINES

POSTED 26 FEB 2024

We’d love to hear from you. Please follow these basic guidelines when posting here!

YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT YOU POST

Please read, understand and follow federal, state and local laws. Make sure to consider any organizational policies you may be governed by, including ethics, data, cybersecurity, equality, rights and responsibilities.

Always remember, content posted online is shareable and searchable forever; even private posts can be copied and shared. Your social media activity could be viewed by anyone at any time…including by your employer and by law enforcement.

BE RESPECTFUL

Never post material that is obscene, racist, discriminatory, threatening, harassing, defamatory or immoral.

PROTECT INFORMATION…INCLUDING YOUR OWN

Always follow privacy, confidentiality, proprietary, copyright and intellectual property laws and adhere to any policies or guidelines you may be governed by.

Only share information that is authorized or already in the public domain. If you are in doubt, ask the owner (especially if it is your employer) and get written permission before you share it. If still in doubt, don’t share it. People trust you to protect that information. Don’t break that trust.

Protect your own information. Use a secure password, update it regularly and use extreme care when you share your private information with anyone.

BE TRANSPARENT

If representing a company and its official position, please disclose that you are doing so and please ensure that you are authorized to do so.

CRITICIZE CONSTRUCTIVELY

Use social media to build relationships, share insights and engage in healthy debate – but always respect the views of others.
